About 15.72 lakh new subscribers joined the Social Security Scheme of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in July, 2022. This information was given in official figures on Friday. This has been said in the report released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) titled ‘Pay-Roll Reporting in India – Employment Outlook -July-2022′. According to the report, a total of 1.49 crore subscribers joined the scheme of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in the financial year 2021-22.
This figure was 1.15 crore in 2020-21, 1.51 crore in 2019-20 and 1.49 crore in 2018-19. About 83.35 lakh subscribers had joined the schemes of ESIC from September, 2017 to March, 2018. The report said that from September 2017 to July 2022, a total of 7.08 crore subscribers joined the ESIC scheme.
The NSO reports are based on the data of new members joining various social security schemes run by ESIC, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). According to this report, the number of subscribers who joined the social security scheme of EPFO in July 2022 was 18.23 lakh.
According to this, from September, 2017 to July, 2022, about 5.7 crore (gross) new subscribers joined the Employees’ Provident Fund scheme. The report said that due to the number of shareholders coming from different sources, there is a possibility of duplication in these.
